Secure fit for every electrode: SVS standards for electrode holders

The contact surfaces are smoothly machined and manufactured with precision so that the electrode fits without play and remains precisely aligned in every cycle. For continuous operation, copper alloys or specially reinforced materials with high dimensional stability and thermal conductivity are optionally available. Thanks to their modular design and compatible interface, holders can be replaced quickly.

Available in standard dimensions as well as customized designs based on drawings or samples. We precisely match the geometry and material to your fixture and process requirements.

What lies behind consistent manufacturing quality

  • All components are manufactured in Germany and can be precisely tailored to your application. Standard versions are immediately available, ensuring short delivery times.

  • Manufactured with tight tolerances on high-performance machines with stable clamping systems and consistent tool settings to prevent dimensional deviations across series.

  • Consistently machined contact surfaces with low roughness reduce contact resistance and promote even current distribution across the weld zone.

  • All electrodes undergo quality-assured testing. For demanding use cases, we offer individual testing according to defined specifications.

  • We offer bespoke designs based on your technical specifications. Geometry and material are co-developed with your team to meet your production requirements.

  • Decades of experience shape every SVS product and contribute to the development of technical standards as an active member of the German Welding Association (DSV).

The function of electrode holders in mesh welding

In mesh welding, the electrode holder secures the electrode firmly within the welding system. It precisely aligns the electrode to the mesh cross and ensures that the current and contact force are precisely directed into the joining zone.

During welding, the electrode presses the crossed wires together, causing current to flow through the contact point and generating resistance heat at the point of contact. The resulting heat causes the material to melt locally. Upon solidification, a bond forms, permanently securing the grid.

Quality-relevant features of electrode holders

  • During operation, current, force, and temperature simultaneously act on the holder. Only materials with high conductivity, heat dissipation, and structural stability can ensure consistent functionality. Copper alloys or mechanically reinforced materials offer the best conditions for reliable results.

  • Tolerance determines how reliably current and force are transferred to the electrode. Only precisely manufactured holders ensure a defined, play-free fit and prevent disruptions in the production process.

  • The geometry, material, and interface of the holder must match the electrode, drive system, and cycle stress. We assist in selecting the right combinations for long-lasting, stable welds.

  • A modular interface speeds up holder replacement and simplifies adaptation to different electrode shapes. Especially with frequently changing mesh designs, this flexibility helps avoid downtime and keeps system availability consistently high.
