Secure Grip, Reliable Contact:
SVS Standards for Electrode Holders

Electrode holders are manufactured with smooth, dimensionally accurate contact surfaces to ensure a precise, play-free fit of the electrode and reproducible welding results. A modular interface speeds up holder replacement and simplifies adaptation to different electrode geometries. This flexibility is especially valuable when frequently switching between mesh designs, helping to prevent downtime and maintain high system availability.

Available as a standard version or as a custom solution based on your drawing or sample. Optional variants with enhanced shape stability and optimized heat dissipation are also available. Geometry, interface, and material are precisely matched to your application.

Function of Electrode Holders in Mesh Welding

In mesh welding, the electrode holder provides the mechanical and electrical connection between the electrode and the welding system. It aligns the electrode precisely to the wire intersection and ensures that current and force are directed into the joint area.

During welding, the electrode presses the crossing wires together. Current flows through the contact point, generating resistance heat at the interface. The resulting heat causes the material to melt locally. As it solidifies, a metallurgical bond forms, permanently fixing the mesh structure.

Key Parameters of Electrode Holders

  • Current, force and heat act simultaneously on the holder. Only materials with high electrical conductivity, thermal dissipation and mechanical strength maintain long-term functionality. Copper alloys or reinforced materials have proven effective under continuous load.

  • Tight tolerances are critical. They define how precisely current and force are transferred to the electrode. A secure, play-free fit prevents contact issues and keeps production stable.

  • The holder's geometry, interface and material must match the electrode, drive unit and cycle load. Mismatched components can compromise weld quality and accelerate wear.
