Every point is a hit: SVS standards for mesh welding electrodes

Mesh welding electrodes are manufactured with high dimensional accuracy to ensure the current is precisely directed through the mesh intersection at each welding point. The copper alloys used combine electrical conductivity with thermal stability, forming the basis for consistent heat input at high cycle rates. Materials with higher hardness protect wear-critical zones from deformation. This ensures the geometry remains stable even during continuous operation, ensuring reproducible quality.

Available in standard versions as well as custom designs based on drawings or samples. Geometry and material are tailored precisely to your system and process requirements.

What lies behind consistent manufacturing quality

  • All components are manufactured in Germany and can be precisely tailored to your application. Standard versions are immediately available, ensuring short delivery times.

  • Manufactured with tight tolerances on high-performance machines with stable clamping systems and consistent tool settings to prevent dimensional deviations across series.

  • Consistently machined contact surfaces with low roughness reduce contact resistance and promote even current distribution across the weld zone.

  • All electrodes undergo quality-assured testing. For demanding use cases, we offer individual testing according to defined specifications.

  • We offer bespoke designs based on your technical specifications. Geometry and material are co-developed with your team to meet your production requirements.

  • Decades of experience shape every SVS product and contribute to the development of technical standards as an active member of the German Welding Association (DSV).

Applications

Core functions of electrodes in mesh welding

In mesh welding, the electrodes are responsible for the targeted introduction of current and contact force to the intersection points of the mesh wires. They establish direct contact with the wire and conduct the welding current at high density through the prepared mesh crosses. At the same time, they press the wires together under a defined pressure during the current pulse.

The electrical resistance generates heat at the contact point, which melts the material and creates a bond.

Quality-relevant features of mesh welding electrodes

  • The copper alloy used must combine electrical conductivity with mechanical strength. Only with an optimal interaction of both properties can the current be introduced in a targeted manner without premature wear of the electrode.

  • High hot hardness protects the contact surface from abrasion and deformation. This preserves dimensional accuracy even at high cycle rates and extends the service life of the electrode.

  • The geometry must be manufactured in such a way that current and force application are reproducible at every point. Even small deviations affect positioning and contact quality.

  • A defined holder geometry enables quick and precise electrode replacement. This reduces setup times and supports stable operation in automated processes.
