Every Spot on Target:
SVS Standards for Electrodes

SVS mesh welding electrodes are manufactured with high dimensional precision to direct the welding current exactly through each wire intersection.

The copper alloys Wirbalit B and Wirbalit N combine excellent electrical conductivity with thermal stability, providing consistent heat input even at high cycle rates. Wirbalit N additionally offers increased hardness, protecting wear-critical areas so that the electrode geometry remains stable in continuous operation and consistent weld quality is maintained.

Available as standard version or custom-made based on your drawings or samples. Geometry, interfaces and material are precisely matched to your requirements.

Fundamentals

Functions of Electrodes in Mesh Welding

In mesh welding, the electrodes are responsible for the targeted introduction of current and contact force to the intersection points of the mesh wires. They establish direct contact with the wire and conduct the welding current at high density through the prepared mesh crosses. At the same time, they press the wires together under a defined pressure during the current pulse.

The electrical resistance generates heat at the contact point, which melts the material and creates a bond.

Key Parameters of Mesh Welding Electrodes

  • The copper alloy must combine high electrical conductivity with mechanical stability. Only then can current be directed precisely through the joint while avoiding premature wear.

  • High red hardness protects the contact surface from abrasion and deformation. This maintains dimensional accuracy even at high cycle rates and extends electrode life.

  • The geometry must ensure consistent current and force transmission. Any deviation affects alignment and reduces contact quality.

  • A defined interface geometry allows quick and accurate electrode replacement. This minimizes setup time and ensures stable operation in automated processes.
