Stabile connection in the torch head: SVS standards for nozzle holders

Manufactured with high dimensional stability and tight dimensional tolerances, nozzle holders ensure the precise positioning of all components in the torch head. The materials are designed to withstand thermal and mechanical stresses and retain their shape even during extended duty cycles. Optimized flow channels direct the shielding gas evenly to the welding zone, preventing turbulence.

Available in standard designs and customized solution based on drawings or samples. We tailor interfaces, materials and geometry precisely to your torch type and process requirements.

What lies behind consistent manufacturing quality

  • All components are manufactured in Germany and can be precisely tailored to your application. Standard versions are immediately available, ensuring short delivery times.

  • Manufactured with tight tolerances on high-performance machines with stable clamping systems and consistent tool settings to prevent dimensional deviations across series.

  • Consistently machined contact surfaces with low roughness reduce contact resistance and promote even current distribution across the weld zone.

  • All electrodes undergo quality-assured testing. For demanding use cases, we offer individual testing according to defined specifications.

  • We offer bespoke designs based on your technical specifications. Geometry and material are co-developed with your team to meet your production requirements.

  • Decades of experience shape every SVS product and contribute to the development of technical standards as an active member of the German Welding Association (DSV).

The function of nozzle holder in MIG/MAG welding

During the welding process, the nozzle holder performs several interface functions within the torch head. It establishes the current transfer to the wire electrode, holds current-carrying and gas-carrying components securely in position, and guides the shielding gas toward the arc.

At the same time, it absorbs heat generated at the contact surfaces and dissipates it into the torch body. Its role as a connecting element under mechanical and thermal stress makes it crucial for process stability during continuous operation.

Quality‑relevant features of MIG/MAG nozzle holders

  • The material must reliably transmit current, dissipate heat, and retain its shape even under prolonged stress. The decisive factor is the combination of conductivity, strength, and temperature resistance.

  • Only with tight manufacturing tolerances can the contact tip, gas nozzle, and wire guide fit precisely within the system. Deviations lead to inaccurate fit, unstable gas flow, or contact failures.

  • The surfaces through which the current is conducted to the wire must be cleanly machined and dimensionally stable. This is the only way to ensure low contact resistance, stable component alignment, and reliable arc guidance.

  • For system compatibility, it is crucial that interface dimensions are manufactured precisely. Even minor deviations in threads or mating surfaces hinder assembly and disrupt the fit within the burner system.
