Seam Welding – When the Wheel Leads

Components for seam welding. Precisely manufactured, quickly available and tailored to your production. For seams that stay tight under pressure.

Welding Method

Seam Welding: Process, Advantages and Application Areas

In resistance seam welding, overlapping workpieces are pressed together by rotating wheel electrodes. The welding current is directed into the joint area. Electrical resistance generates heat, causing the material to melt locally. The continuous movement of the electrodes produces a series of overlapping weld nuggets, which merge into a tight, continuous seam.

The method enables short cycle times cost-effective production of long weld seams. It is commonly used in automotive manufacturing, equipment and vessel fabrication, and general metalworking, for example on body panels, tanks, pipe joints, and housings.

Product Overview

  • Welding wheels and rings for resistance seam welding

    Seam Welding Electrodes

Seam welding electrodes conduct welding current and contact force precisely along the seam line. Available in WIRBALIT® HF (CuCr1Zr) or WIRBALIT® D (CuNi₂.₅SiCr).

  • Shunt straps for welding systems

    Shunt Straps

Shunt straps transfer welding current between electrode arms and the welding gun while compensating for movement during the process. Made of stacked copper laminations, available in standard dimensions or as custom designs.
