Combi changer

Dressing and cap changing in one unit

The system integrates electrode dressing and cap changing in a compact unit with fully automated, synchronized operation.

Electrodes are dressed after each welding cycle. When a cap reaches its service life, it's automatically removed from the shank and deposited in the collection container. A fresh cap is retrieved from the prepared rail and installed. Rails hold ten caps each and are loaded outside the production cell.

The dressing unit and change head are designed for extended service life and can be individually replaced as needed.

Control is available via either via frequency converter or switch box. For adaptation to various mounting heights, a height-adjustable stand version is available. Additional variants include options with or without spring compensation. Change heads are counter-arranged to simultaneously change upper and lower electrodes in a single operation.

Rotational system

The rotational version removes electrode caps using a rotating change mechanism. Torques up to 120 Nm ensure reliable removal of threaded caps even under high clamping forces. This makes the system suitable for aluminum welding applications and large 20 mm electrode caps.

Push-off removal system

The push-off version removes electrode caps using a push-off unit. It is particularly suitable for plug-in shanks and eccentric caps where conventional pulling methods reach their limitations. The system is available in three mounting heights and offers flexible integration options.

Quick-change system

Dressing heads can be easily exchanged through a quick-change system without compromising repeatability.

Integrated chip removal

A pneumatic blow-out system removes dressing chips directly at the machining point and directs them into a sealed 3-liter capacity container.

Sensor monitoring

Sensors detect magazine fill levels and verify complete cap removal from the shank after changing operations. Additional sensors confirm safe robot entry into the magazine area.

Industry 4.0 compatibility

Connectivity through I/O modules with Profinet via fiber optic or copper connections. Alternative protocols include Ethernet/IP, Interbus, and other bus systems. Real-time process data capture supports automated workflows and predictive maintenance. Optional RFID recognition enables milling head identification.

The system is designed for robot-guided resistance welding guns and is ideal for high-cycle production cells with varying cap profiles. It operates effectively in both steel and aluminum welding production environments.
